Anthem

As you probably have noticed this month we have been introducing some new songs for Fellowship to sing.  This week we will do the same.  The song that we are going to introduce Sunday is called “Anthem” by Casey Darnell.  This is the title track off of Casey’s most recent release.  Go get it on itunes if you don’t have it yet.  I must say this song is exactly what the title of the song says it is an Anthem.  The lyrics of this song are a cry for “God to raise a generation for the glory of you salvation”.  My prayer is that this song will be become our Anthem, that His heartbeat that is living in us will Awaken us.  I’m super excited about this tune.  So this Sunday bring your loud singing voices so we can proclaim this Anthem as one body together.  Below are the Lyrics and a live video of Casey singing Anthem.  Enjoy

Lyrics to Anthem:
You are living in us, You are the hope we found
Stirring deep within us, The time is here and now

Awaken us Awaken us

God Raise up, a generation
For the glory of, your salvation
Every heart is now, Awakening
The anthem for, All our days
We will tell the world, In Jesus name
Every heart is now, Awakening

Your love now compels us, Your spirit is alive
Let the world be shaken, You’re kingdoms unified

Your heartbeat is living in us
Awakening us, Oh whoa oh, Oh whoa oh

Arms Open Wide

This Sunday we will be introducing a new song by Hillsong United called “Arms Open Wide”. I am super excited about this song because I feel it captures the essence of what we have to remind ourselves daily to be in total surrender to Jesus. Romans 12:1 tells us, “to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is our spiritual act of worship”. The only way to achieve this is by total surrender to him. So this Sunday lets not just sing this song but let’s pray this song as we sing it. The lyrics are posted for you to go ahead and read them and start now by praying these words for yourself in preparation for what God is going to do with a life totally surrendered to Him. Also watch the video of Hillsong singing this song.

VERSE 1:

Take my life I lay it down
At the cross where I am found
All I have I give to You oh God

VERSE 2:
Take my hands and make them clean
Keep my heart in purity
That I may walk in all You have for me

CHORUS:
Oh here I stand
Arms open wide
Oh I am Yours
And You are mine

VERSE 3:
Take my moments and my days
Let each breath that I take
Be ever only for You oh God

BRIDGE:
My whole life is Yours
I give it all
Surrendered to Your Name
And forever I will pray
Have Your way
Have Your way
Thanks

Serving God Matters Pt.1

On Sunday we talked about how Jesus taught about serving others when he washed the disciples feet.  You can read about it in John 13, it's a great story. You can listen to the message here: Epidemic: Infusion

Here is what we learned:
  • Serving begins with a hear of love.
  • Serving others is not an obligation, but a privilege
  • Serving others is proactive, not reactive
  • Serving other will signify our relationship with Jesus
  • Serving will require wholeness and holiness
  • Serving prepares us for worship
  • Serving is about dying to self so others can live for Christ
So for the next few weeks I will keep the challenge to serve before you by giving you some ideas of where you can serve.

Today I want to share with you an incredible opportunity to mentor children.  As many of you know we have become the Partner in Education with Baldwin Elementary.  One of their needs is mentors, men and women who are willing to give about an hour a week to encourage, challenge and lead a child at the school.  As I stated yesterday in my message, "the time to reach people is not when they are 18, but when they are in elementary school."  It is important to note that many of these children come from homes where there is little parent involvement and all they need is to know someone cares.  Anyone can do that!

If you are interested in finding out more about the mentoring program please go to our website and click on the Serve link, look on the left for mentoring and fill out the online registration.  It's that easy.

Use Somebody-Kings of Leon
The Time Has Come-Hillsong United
Yours Is The Victory-Newspring Church
This Is Our God-Hillsong United
The Broken & The Tired-Elevation Worship

What a great Sunday as we learned about the epidemic of serving.  Our key verse Mark 10:45, "that Jesus came to serve and not be served".  Let's see what we can do this week to serve the people around us, whether that is your co-worker, your kids, or your spouse.  So them the love of Jesus by serving them like Jesus served.

Good reminder of what we do at Fellowship Church.

Regularly I read blogs of other church leaders and some business leaders whom I respect.  Most of those can be found in the right hand column of this blog.  Today I was reading a blog by Perry Noble about some things on his mind.  When I came to number two I immediately looked up on my office wall where this saying resides.  I also copied from his blog to share with you and will add my thoughts to the end:
#2 – “In order to reach the people no one else is reaching we must be willing to do the things that no one else is doing.” Craig Groeschel
Leaders…IF you do this you WILL be controversial because people usually have a problem when the status quo is upset, especially in the context of church!  I am seriously wrestling with the question and asking myself, “what else is it that we need to be doing to reach people who are far from God?”  And please understand…I am NOT asking, “what activities do we need to add to our agenda to try and reach more churched people who are desperate for more Christian activities so that we can provide them with opportunities to isolate themselves from the very people Jesus commanded us to reach.”  There is a huge difference!
Five years ago myself, Stan Crump and five men started Fellowship Church.  Our vision was to do church so that anyone would be welcome.  I had served in the church for almost 25 years and felt so many times that church was only for people who called themselves Christians.  What if we started a church that did not have any restrictions on who came and actually frowned upon people who are already in church from coming?  So far it has worked.
We decided to do church to reach people that no other church was reaching.  In doing so, we have taken a lot of criticism and to be honest I didn't expect that, but I have come to accept it as a compliment.  No Fellowship Church does not do things like other churches in our area.  Yes we use creative content from church around the country who want to reach people far from God.  Does that mean we are not on the same team, Not at all!  Actually you will find that we are very much on the same team with the Bible believing churches in our community, we just do church in a way that is different.
So what are you doing personally to reach out to people no body else is reaching?  The typical "Christian" will invite their "christian" friends to church, but are afraid to ask the professing pagan in the office.  I for one don't want to catch the caught, I want to feed the fallen, hook the hopeless and reach out to the helpless.  Because of this I will do whatever it takes, yes even if it offends good "Christian" people.
Let's get busy making some people mad.

Breaking News: September 1st

Exciting and breaking news, well it's not the breaking, but September 1st we will have a Night Of Worship at Fellowship Church at 6:30p.m.  Trust me you will not want to miss that night it's going to be a night of nothing but music and all out rock and roll.  If you are going to be in town that night make plans to be there and bring everyone you can with you.

We are really excited about getting to worship not only as a body all together, but with other people who we may not get to see all the time.  It's going to be an incredible night.  Please don't  miss it.
